Summer Reading Lists
Torrington Christian Academy’s summer reading lists are designed to enrich and broaden the reading of students and to reinforce the curriculum of the English Department.
Our goal is to invite the focus of Philippians 4:8: “Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.” That being said, we are thankful for our trusted partnership with parents and encourage parents to help choose which “suggested” books would be best appropriate for their home/convictions (especially with some of the more “mature” content in Grade 9-12). TCA does not endorse any content/concepts in these or any other books which are contrary to the Bible.
Here are a few suggestions for easy selection & pick-up of books:
1. Search online for a close-by library that does a “curb-side” pick-up of books or a pick-up from the main desk inside the library. Many libraries will allow you to log-in online, search the books you’d like, and have them pulled aside for you. If they don’t have them, you’ll usually have an option to inter-library loan books, which can be sent to and picked up directly from your local library.
2. Most libraries offer digital materials, including children’s books that can be brought up on tablets, smartphones, or computers.
For additional book suggestions for ages 0-12, consider purchasing or checking out from the library: “Honey for a Child’s Heart”.
